Directions

Review the Summarizing, Paraphrasing, and Citing reading. Read the following paragraph:

Decision making is a process by which several possibilities are considered and prioritized, resulting in a clear choice of one option over others. Decision making is a fact of life personally and in business. We make dozens of decisions each day. Some decisions are simple, while others are complex. Some are made for us while others require a great deal of analysis and thought. From what to wear to work to what computer system to choose to how to reward top performers to what movie to see, we use a variety of complex thought processes to make decisions from an array of options. Our ability to make decisions helps us to navigate through life, avoiding potential problems and expanding our horizons. Decision making plays a similar role in business. Decision making aids managers in identifying and selecting among potential opportunities, helping them solve immediate problems and make future problems more manageable. Good decision makers are those who are effective at processing information, assessing risks, and making choices that will have positive outcomes for their organization.

Music Analysis Exercise.

Music Analysis Exercise.

Listen to the music posted on the attached files. For each category find and describe the following: 1) a common practice in the songs 2) Your sense of the range of diversity of music, lyrics, etc in that category.

Music analysis example

Music pre-1960: During this time there were multiple instruments being used per song as well as similar types of patterns in how the song was sung. The song sounds raw with instrumental errors.

Music – 1960: The music sounds more edited and messed around with, it sounds less pure compared with to the pre-60’s music. It still has real instruments playing in the song but they have less instruments playing, usually a guitar and or piano. The background singers were more pronounced in the song.

Music – 1970: In the music of this decade changed from, the music in the 60’s. The quality of the music is better but the originality of it is not there as much. It sounds good, the instruments are still something that is dissipating, more of the computer sound is being heard in the song.

Music – 1980: The music sounds more futuristic, more of the electric guitar and our of this world sounds. Another instrument used is the drums which add different sounds and variation on beats and of course a lyrical rhythm.

Music – 1990’s- 2000: In this case of music, the lyric part of its is more repeated and most of the song is the same words. Compared to the music of the 60’s up to 70’s the lyrics were not repeated as much and they had more of a story to tell. This decades music is still telling a story but with lyrics that repeat making them more catchy and easy to remember. The music starts to be more upbeat and fast moving.

Music – 2000 – Today: This music has different sounds and beats that make up the song, with fewer lyrics, the lyrics it does have repeat throughout the song. It also uses a lot of computer made sounds and instrument sounds made on a computer . It is more modern making fit for the newer generation. This music continues to be more upbeat, fast making the songs more of a party song.

module 2

Topic Domestic Violence

In the previous module, you gathered information from a variety of sources to understand how a particular issue impacts a specific group of people. Review the psychology theories in this module and utilize one developmental psychology, one clinical psychology, and one social psychology theory to describe some of the challenges this group of people experiences. If you cannot find a way to explore theory from each domain, then please use three total theories aiming to understand the situation from a variety of perspectives. Keep in mind that even when one theory seems to fit a situation well, other theories can still shed light on these complicated situations. Use at least one peer-reviewed journal article to support each theory.

Submit to the Assignment Dropbox “Module 2 Assignment: Part II Final Project”, by the due date listed on the syllabus.

Human Growth and Development Homework

You will need to find 4 articles located in scholarly journals. Scholarly journal articles are also referred as primary source peer reviewed articles. A scholarly journal article can be found in the South University Online Library. To find more information regarding utilizing the South University Library and accessing scholarly journal articles click on Library Guide. What cannot be used for this assignment are web pages, magazines, newspapers, text books, and other books. Finally, current research for our purposes is an article that was published within the last 5 to 6 years.

Remember this is a course on human development so when looking for articles make sure they are related to the subject matter covered in the course. To help in your search here are some of the major areas we covered in this course (these are meant as a guide, not specific topics to find).

· Major developmental theories across the lifespan

· Nature of geographic, gender, social, cognitive, emotional, and developmental factors during each period of development

· Developmental factors that impact one another.

· Historical and current trends in development

· Current trends which may differentially impact the future development of populations in the United States

· Social, and diversity issues related to developmental psychology

With the major areas above in mind, focus on at least two of the following age groups:

· Childhood

· Adolescence

· Adulthood

· Older Adults

First, give an overview of each article, including:

· Write a 2-paragraph summary for each article.

· Write a 1-2 paragraph analysis and evaluation for each article found.

· Make sure to integrate course material in that analysis

Then, write a summary (1-2 pages) integrating what was leaned from the articles reviewed on the chosen age groups as seen from the life-span perspective. Cover the following in that summary:

· What similarities did you find in the types of research and what was being studied? What differences did you find?

· Based on your course readings, what developmental theories did you find that were applicable?

· Explain how the life-span perspective may provide a way of better understanding the research reviewed.

1. I think the value of local autonomy for journalists and producers comes from the fact that local news stories would essentially be “easier” to investigate and report on. If there was local autonomy, journalists and producers could feel more confident in fulfilling their duty to providing a public service by reporting local news stories truthfully because they could work hand-in-hand to report the facts to the public. In addition to that, I feel it would add to network and journalist credibility because journalists may feel even more motivated to thoroughly investigate the truth behind local stories and confer with credible sources, and it also allows the public an option to view multiple news networks but trust they are getting the same, true story. I think local autonomy in this way has the potential to build public trust and faith in their reporting which would ultimately ensure journalists and producers remain in business. I also think there can be value in local autonomy when something is deemed vital for the public to know by local constituents, and the story actually gets reported and not ignored. As far as seeing a difference in mergers that involve journalism and mergers that are largely about entertainment, I do not see much. I understand the argument made by Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin when he essentially states that having ownership of too many networks could “threaten diversity and localism in broadcasting,… and harm competition,” and that is the same argument that can be and is made about mergers such as AT&T/Time Warner and Disney/ Fox. Essentially it is argued that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing and both types of mergers having ownership of too much can have bad consequences, so ultimately I do not think there is much of a difference between the two.

2.A journalists job is to put out information in news that everyday people benefit, learn, and understand from. If the information they put out isn’t helping citizens, factual, and can be trusted; it is useless and damaging. They have a high value of making sure their facts and stories are correct without causing damage to themselves and us as citizens.

I do not see a difference between the Sinclair merger with Tribune or AT& T and Time Warner or Disney and Fox.

3.There’s not a difference between the Sinclair merger with Tribune and Disney/FOX and AT& T/ Time Warner. They all own a majority of the media, such as newspapers and broadcast. The value of local autonomy for journalist and producers are serving the public. Most journalist and producers are worried about protecting their “brand” than giving the readers what they need. Most consumers don’t trust these corporations because they are just looking to make money than to be credible. For example, critics argue that Sinclair uses its television stations to promote right wing propaganda. Sinclair also required their anchors and reporters to read positive messages supporting president Bush’s campaign against terrorism after 9/11. Sinclair owned more than 200 stations and reached up to 72 percent of households, which just like Disney, for example, also owns a lot of stations on television, such as the history channel, ESPN and a lot more.
