NSG 6002

I only need to answer to this other student statement. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is believed to be the most important health care legislation enacted since the idea of Medicare and Medicaid came along. The aim of the ACA is to have better care, better health and to be cost-effective. According to Nash, Fabius, Skoufalos, Clarke, & Horowitz, “The central objective of the law is to improve healthcare quality and access to care while lowering healthcare costs” (2016, p.213). The affordable care act specific initiatives are to:

  1. Expand coverage,
  2. Hold insurance companies accountable,
  3. Lower health care costs,
  4. Guarantee more choice, and
  5. Enhance the quality of care for all Americans.

(“Affordable Care Act”, 2018)

Currently, president Donald Trump and Congress wants to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The goal is to have an overall approach to expand access to coverage by requiring most U.S citizens and legal residents to have health insurance. There are multiple provisions of the Affordable Care Act such as individual mandate will require U.S citizens and legal residents to have qualifying health coverage. If an individual decides not to have coverage, then they must pay a tax penalty of “$695 per year up to a maximum of three times that amount” (“Summary of the Affordable Care Act”, 2013).

In the year of 2017, results from polls on the view of the public about ACA varied. The public was split in its assessment of the ACA, but the majority of the people approved than disapproved of the law. In a survey, 57% of the people believed that the federal government should play a major role in improving the U.S health care system, “whereas 26% thought it should play a minor role and 15% thought it should play no role at all” (Blendon & Benson, 2017, p. 2).

In my opinion, the government needs to let all Americans decide what they want to do about their own health insurance. I see both sides of the token. My son and I have health insurance and we are doing great with our coverage. However, my husband did not have insurance for a brief period of time in 2017. Now we need to pay the government a fee because he did not have insurance for a couple of months. It feels like the government is forcing many families to make a decision or pay for things we do not want to. This is a free country, this is the reason why I came to this county, to have freedom, to do whatever I want with my money. It feels like everything is falling apart when it comes to health care coverage and insurances. Hopefully, in the years to come, we as future Advanced Practice Nurses can truly come up with a system that will work for all Americans.

By Day 6

Respond to at least one of your colleagues’ posts and include one additional factor that may contribute to the health issues they selected, indicating how your factor fits in the biopsychosocial model.

Colleague post

I selected migraine headaches as I personally have dealt with this affliction. Biopsychosocial model, as the name suggests, looks at three parts of an issue including: biological, psychological, and social factors (Borrell-Carrie, et al., 2004). With migraine headaches, biological factors could include things such as iron deficiencies, or hormonal imbalances and even gender, and are important in identifying the root causes and possible relief approaches of the headaches (Lund & Lundeberg, 2008). If the biological factor is not assessed during the evaluation, treatment recommendations wouldn’t be accurate, and underlying issues such as a tumor could be missed.

Psychologically, it is important to assess how the person is feeling and what type of impact the affliction is having in their life. When I experienced migraines, I was unable to perform my work, and had the risk of losing my job which also lead to anxiety and depression. My neurologist was cognitive of these types of issues and was able to advocate on my behalf as well as share information on how to protect my role and reduce that stressor. Like the article on arts being therapeutic towards wellbeing, having open and honest conversations about the psychological impacts of my affliction provided relief (Davies, et al., 2016). Allowing me to be self-expressive about my experiences, feel that I am not isolated or suffering alone, and finding creative ways to plan for my migraines were ways to increase my positivity and overall wellness. The psychological factor assists in providing all encompassing care and treating not only the direct ailment but also any residual disruptions to the patient’s life.

Socially, it was important that I was able to have ways to share my disability and navigate what that means for my work, family, and educational needs. Borrell-Carrie, et al. (2004) emphasized that patient centered care provided guidance and care for living with illness I the patient’s daily routines. In the case of migraines, removing the stigma that the person is lazy because they need to nap in the dark during episodes for family members, or educating employers on migraine triggers and the resulting symptoms, allows for a more comfortable social atmosphere. Without these explanations and assistance, the patient will suffer from judgement and assumptions from outsiders during an episode.

The benefits of the biopsychosocial approach for treatment of migraine headaches are clear: correct diagnosis and discovery of triggers, uncovering affiliated psychological implications, and identifying possible social roadblocks that aggravate the issue.

200 words

2 sources plus biblical integration

Reply: As you reply, probe the answers. Did they justify why their list of concepts was so important—or non-obvious? Was their answer to the client persuasive? Each answer must be 200 words and use biblical integration and 2 sources.

1.       Five questions that I would ask myself as I counsel those who are suffering are: What is my theory of healing? My theory of healing would be one where the counselor and the client work together to filter issues that are tugging at the client’s mental, spiritual and emotional well-being. Somewhere between the point of assessment and healing the two become mutually obedient in a relationship that will provide peace and a sense of self-awareness.  I believe that healing does not take place all at once and that it is a process which leads me to question number 2.  How does healing of the whole person, the mind, spirit, and body take place?  I believe that healing in all these areas takes place first by submission of the client to want to get better and secondly by reminding ourselves that “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (NKJV/NIV, 1985).  Another question is “Do I seek to use prayer both in and out of the counseling sessions?”  I believe that prayer is a beautiful language between human beings and the Father and that God hears our cries and responds to them.  I would also ask the question of what model of integration would I use with the client and would this model be appropriate to use with this particular client.  Last, but not least, I would ask my client if they believed in God or had a relationship with God so that I would know if and when it was appropriate to proceed from a spiritual perspective with this person.   I would tell my client that I alone could not remove the pain that they were suffering and that I could help them find hope by integrating my faith into the counseling session.  Sometimes, it takes a personal perspective to make things come to life for those that are in a state of despair and hopelessness.  I would also help my client confront any faulty thinking they have about suffering because there could be a number of reasons for the suffering and this would be one objective.  I would also observe the body language and non-verbal signals of my client and extend a warm, genuine, compassionate welcome to them.

2.       The guidelines counseling hurting people would be, (a) to practice, The Spirit of the Disciplines, Dallas Willard, (McMinn, p. 11), (b) establish a counseling relationship the client can respect (p. 13) and will open up to the treatment, (c) serve wholeheartedly the client as if  serving our Lord. Must have empathy (Presentation Week 4 Lecture one), (d) be an observer, active listening and watching for non-verbal signals, to be able to see if something is bothering the client (e) we must recognize our own brokenness. Our brokenness leads us to a relationship with God. (p. 19 & 20). This way we can help others through their brokenness.I would say to this client that we are both here to help you alleviate your pain. Counseling is a process to find the cause of your pain. I have methods to give you as we progress to find that cause and as I give them to you, you must use them. The pain did not show up one day, it has been mounting for some time. Let’s take time and we will work this process together. We will either get rid of it or learn to live with it. All things are possible through our Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t give up on me, you or the process. Let’s pray. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 NIV

discussion post / student replies

Chapter 11 highlights the continual debate among political scientists as to whether negative campaign ads help or hurt a candidate’s prospects of winning. Regarding whether or not negative ads ‘work’, Hershey notes that these appeals are often useful because they are memorable and emotionally engaging. However, “after the individual has made his or her choice, attack ads are likely to depress turnout, especially among people who are not strong partisans” (pg. 220).

Where do you fall on this debate? Does negative campaigning garner your attention by providing useful information? Or does negative campaigning cause you to tune out? Explain and provide current examples of ads from Georgia’s 2018 gubernatorial race.

*Note: Reaction posts should be approximately 2 paragraphs in length. Responses to other students do not have a length requirement but serve as your participation grade (i.e., the more thorough the better).

When it comes to the debates, candidates and their party would tend to highlight their successes as well and promises. This is a good thing and very informative. It allows voters to see who they are, what they have done and what they would like to do. Often we see their agendas align closely with current issues to motivate or connect with concerned citizens. From there the opposing party/candidate attacks.

For me, I think that we as voters are entitled to know the good, the bad and the ugly. Nothing is ever an issue until you try to hid it. So when there are things that are thrown out from one party/candidate to another, i would be impressed if they would own it. I’m pretty turned off when i see the back and forth attacks. It comes off a bit desperate. However, it does not deter me from my vote.

Currently, Stacey Abrams is running for Governor of GA. Her campaign appeared to be pretty positive to me. I didn’t see much about any of the candidates that was too negative. Then the first negative blow that I heard was about Stacey Abrams not paying IRS debt. However, the same person who’s campaign brought it up, has also had tax issues. The biggest thing for me is, Stacey Abrams is not the only person who has IRS bills. I like how she addressed the issue that has been brought up. These actions has not secured my vote for or against Stacey Abrams.

I take political ads with a grain of salt. Whether they’re positive or negative and whoever the candidate is. Not to say the ads aren’t true but you can spin anything in any direction you want to. A great example is the governors race here in Georgia. There is the notion that the Secretary of State’s office is holding 53,000 votes that will not be eligible to vote in the upcoming 2018 midterms. This is completely untrue, every vote that was turned in before the voter registration deadline will be able to vote in the election. There is also an ad out by the Abrams camp that Brian Kemp leaked Georgians information while in office. Again is 100% untrue and is trying to gather support by playing on the fears of people. Attempting to be as less biases as possible the Kemp campaign has tried to label Abrams as an “extremist” and a socialist. Most recently I’ve only seen the Abrams campaign running these negative ads.

I like to do my own research and not rely to heavily on what I’ve seen in political ads. For reasons like I stated above. At the same time like a large majority of voters negative ads tend to stick with me. Negative ads are usually the ads I look to see are true or just hot air.

Discussion Chapter 2: Essay QuestioInstructions: Please post directly into Discussion board. Please remember to proofread for grammar and spelling errors, and answer question in essay format (no numbering, bullets, outline, half-sentences). Please refer to the syllabus for assignment requirements and the discussion rubric for additional support.

When Essay Questions contain multiple parts (Ex: Part a, Part b, etc.) – the length is still 400 words for the entire essay answers (400 words for a + b together). Some questions have short replies, some have longer. Be sure to have an Introduction in the paper that introduces each question/topic in the essay you will be discussing so the reader (and Instructor can identify your answer specifically). Remember the guidelines in the Syllabus: No numbering, bulleting or outlining. So do not write “Essay question 2a” and then discuss it, and then write “Essay question 2b” and then discuss it as if they are two short answerquestions. When the two questions correspond with each other begin your essay answer with an Introduction statement that indicates what you will be discussing in the short paper (1-2 pages). Then transition the two essay answers smoothly with a statement or two at the beginning of the paragraph; and always wrap things up with a conclusion. For this course, 2-3 sentences restating your main points is enough.

PLEAS READ THIS INSTRUCTION TO COMPLETE THE EASY QUESTIONS BELOW.

Alternatively, students can choose to write a 400 word count essay for each question part (400 words for Part a and 400 words for Part b), which means 2 separate essays; instead of combining the question parts into one 400 word essay as discussed above. Most of time, one essay can be used to answermultiple questions because the concepts relate. This is a choice each student will have to make when the questions have multiple parts. Some students may want to present the topics in separate essays when they do not cover similar concepts from the text (2 totally different topics) and the questions are vastly different. I highly recommend using 2 essay replies when the topics differ.

Lastly, please do not forget to address each question in the assignment. Students often answer only 1 or 2 questions in each part thinking this is sufficient. I am reading and grading for answers to each question I have included; when a part is left out points are lost. If you have any questions, please contact me.

History of Art from Middle Ages to Modern Times Assignment for Dr. Smart Mituki

Question 1: Art of the Americas

This week, we studied a vast array of cultural objects produced in North, South, and Central America prior to 1492. Select one object from each of the following cultures: Aztec, Inca, and North (Native) American.

First, identify each object, including its name, date, medium, and location/geographical region of origin.

Then, in a minimum of 2 well-developed paragraphs, address the following questions for each object:

  1. What are the unique and specific visual characteristics of the object? How are these visual characteristics typical of the time and place in which the object was created?
  2. How does meaning or function of the object reflect the culture in which it was produced?

Question 2: Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and Realism

Beginning in the 19th century, artistic movements carry the suffix “-ism” to their name. Originally derived from Ancient Greek, “-isms” is appended to a word that then reflects a philosophical concept. In the case of art, it comes to mean the philosophy or approach to art that binds a group of artists together.

Select one representative example from each of the following “-isms” studied this week: Neoclassicism, Romanticism, and Realism. In 3 well-developed paragraphs, discuss:

  1. What is the philosophy or approach to art that is defined by the –ism.
  2. What are the specific visual characteristics of your example that are representative of the overall style of the –ism?
  3. How does the specific subject of your selected work reflect the philosophy of the –ism?

Be sure to explain your ideas clearly and support them by discussing specific works of art that you have read about this week, talking about how they illustrate and support your ideas.

It’s due tonight by midnight. Make sure to provide information text citations when needed and references.
