It is so called because this field deals with engineering on the scale of a billionth of a meter, also known as a nanometer. Nanotechnology seeks to solve a wide range of problems from the construction of atomic scale machines to changing material properties at the atomic level.

Assignment 2: Discussion—Species Interactions and You

Humans interact with various species every day without actually realizing it. In the field of ecology, these interactions can either be interspecific (between species) or intraspecific (within species). Interactions between humans are known as intraspecific (within species) interactions. For example, interactions between a human and a pet would be interspecific, whereas interactions between a human and another human would be intraspecific.

Research interspecific and intraspecific interactions using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet.

This assignment has two parts. Complete both parts.

Part A

Complete the following:

Track your interactions with other organisms—between and within species—for one day.
Summarize your interactions throughout the day, using the terms from this module’s readings. If required, review the module’s readings again.
At a minimum, identify ten interactions that you witnessed or participated in today. Among those interactions, you should be able to identify a predatory-prey relationship, a competitive relationship, and a mutualism. You could also identify parasitic relationships or commensalisms, if you choose. Although you can repeat interaction types—for instance, you can have multiple mutualisms—the examples must differ. These are some examples:
- Did you have a predatory-prey relationship with a chicken today? That is, did you eat chicken for lunch?

The situation between the US and North Korea has been getting more tense lately. The leader of North Korea has been making attempts to try and test other countries specifically the United States. As much as I feel issues should be held dealt with internally but with a country like North Korea this will never happen. I think a war with North Korea will be inevitable because the citizens of North Korea are so blinded by the government that they don’t realize what is wrong within their own country. As things progress through North Korea eventually they will test enough nations that the United States won’t be the only country needing to retaliate against North Korea. Although the issues with North Korea I don’t believe they are the biggest threat. I perceive the biggest threat to be Russia. Although war will only happen with Russia if we further involve ourselves in Syria I believe a war with Russia will be more destructive that a war with North Korea. North Korea is a issue that is more in everyones face because of the unstable leadership but if the situation came to war with North Korea it would be an easier less destructive war because it wouldn’t involve multiple world powers.

As far as going to the war with another country I believe that North Korea is the biggest chance of that happening. We are involved in other wars but that is a war against terrorists that span over many different nations. We do need to worry about North Korea because of the rogue attitudes of their leadership and their disregard for human life. If we needed to enter a conflict with North Korea it wouldn’t last long because we wouldn’t even have to set a boot on the ground our air force will handle it via drones and other bomb attacks. The US isn’t afraid to drop bombs as we can see from recent military action in other sections of the world. The biggest issue we would face with North Korea is the China factor. Depending on where China stands on the issue with North Korea and the US will be play a big role if we get involved or not. North Korea’s nuclear threat is a suicide mission and they know it. The US is ready to go if the North Koreans decide to act against any US military base or citizen. There will be no more North Korea if they decide to act.
